iTunes user sues Apple
iTunes has an option to burn "MP3 CDs", which is exactly what I want, however it will only burn files which are already in MP3 format - it won't transcode. What I really want is a magic AppleScript (probably) which will convert everything in a selected playlist to MP3 (Using LAME?) and then burn a CD. Done already?

time I try to burn a CD from ITunes I get "CD burner or software not found". I see that there are many people - both MAC and PC users - who are having this problem. So much frustration.
with iTunes you pay nothing for the software client, you only pay when you purchase a song. Once it's purchased that song is on your computer and you can burn it to CD-R as many times as you like then ripp MP3's from it as many times as you like (well, there is a license agreement that defines the terms of use,

iTunes won't burn CD
It came with iTunes v. 1.1. I made a playlist of songs that I had downloaded from Napster sometime back and proceeded to burn the CD (actually, a CD-RW). The first time I tried it nothing happened and the Icon disappeared. I was able to eject the disk, however. The second time, it worked but it recorded the songs

Question about burning audio CD with iTunes
I'm astonished nobody mentioned the fatal flaw with iTunes and the other pay-to-download sites: The files you download from iTunes can be played on "up to three computers." GoKartRecords Open Letter to RIAA
I don't think iTunes will do that. You should be able to download programs that will, however. If all you have is iTunes and you really need to convert MP3 to AIFF/WAV, then the only option I can think of would be to burn an audio CD and then rip the track back. Note that it won't sound any better than the original

Extension Set for CD Burning? (Sony Spressa USB)
iTunes won't let me burn it... I get it to where I want it (sound wise), then burn it straight to CD, delete the original file, then re-import it from the CD I just burned...it keeps NOTHIN'! Sounds exactly as the original. I want to be able to clean up tracks, then SAVE it onto a disk. Thanks again for your help.

iTunes won't burn CD
However when I replay the burnt disc on the Powerbook or CD player all other tracks are fine but "Talk" is just white noise ! Is this normal practice or is there something I I don't think Toast will burn stuff from the iTMS, which is a recent-ish change IIRC. Use iTunes to do the burning instead. Cheers, Chris.

I want a format that any CD Player is going to recognize. Did you burn the CD using iTunes, Toast, or something else? What program settings did you use? iTunes won't let you burn store-bought songs as MP3s. You can only burn them as Audio. I *have* Finder-copied my Library onto a firewire hard drive, and hooked that up to another Mac, which is enabled for listening to purchased music. That works fine. If you want to use the burned CD on a Mac or PC, you could try

and it plays nice with iTunes and Disc Burner. That way, when you in the Finder and you insert a blank CD, the Disc Burner icon will come up and will give you the option of "Toast" in addition to "Prepare" and "Eject."
