Mac OS 10.1 - No SCSI Support
You know that iTunes isn't loading all the bits from the song, right? It's compressing the data, throwing out the bits it thinks you won't miss, stuff like that. Burn a CD that's got good enough sound quality for the car, and away I go. All it takes is a car CD player that recognizes and can play MP3s.

Making & using CD-Rs on two Macs?

iTunes recorded list backwards
So, I got my new G4 with built in CD-R drive. I got iTunes and CD Burner, but they have limitations. (Won't burn bootable disks, for example.) So I got Toast Titanium. Byebye $100! iTunes allows you to burn CD's too I think? I would ultimately recommend you buy Roxio Toast Titanium, it has to be the best piece of software I own!!! Yeah, you can burn a CD like that, but I need to duplicate a CD on the fly. Not track-by-track because that would put a 2 seconds gap between songs.

Some questions/concerns about the new iTunes
(The OS also seems to require that the CD-R drive be turned on when the system boots, so I almost never use it under OS X anyway.) That said, I vaguely recall seeing hacks to let iTunes use a wider variety of drives. You might try a google search on "iTunes unsupported CD-RW drives" and see what shows up.
