Will iTunes burn a CD using built-in EQ settings?
Most average purchasers won't know that you can just burn a cd, then reimport the music, which strips the DRM. I am giving Apple a chance to redeem themselves (in my eyes, at least). People on this thread think they will. I am optimistic. B Apple can only support your use of their materials according to the law,

Before I uninstalled iTunes I made a back-up copy of all my music on my external HD. Then I uninstalled iTunes (latest version 7). Then I installed version 6 which I has saved on my HD. AIFF file won't burn to CD?
This used to be necessary in the bad old days (circa 1990-2000) before computers got incredibly fast, but not today. I have no idea why Jam clings to this idea. CD Architect and many other Windows tools don't have this limitation. Hell, even iTunes (Mac and Windows) will burn a CD directly. --MFW.

What's wrong with iTunes?
For some strange reason, once Toast is installed, iTunes will no longer burn CDs. This is not necesarily a problem, as Toast can burn audio CDs as well, but converting everything to a Toast-readable format before burning is cumbersome and takes a bit of time, especially if a lot of short audio tracks are involved.

What version of iTunes are you using? What were the burning settings in effect? I have tried to burn a CD of purchased music using both iTunes itself and Toast 6 Titanium. Am I allowed to take my download and burn a CD of it to listen in my car? And, if I am, then what's to stop the next person from making copies of that CD? And, besides that, what's to stop me from burning a different MP3 file from the song? Maybe they have all this worked out...the technology is probably there.

don't think Toast will burn stuff from the iTMS, which is a recent-ish change IIRC. Use iTunes to do the burning instead. No Toast would never had burnt any purchased music as it would be encoded, burning via iTunes would convert the track to a normal audio track for CD players to understand first.

iTunes has other features which are useless to me - it won't recognise my Ricoh MP7040S CD writer, for example, so that "burn CD" button sits there to taunt me! And I have no idea how to use it to upload music to my Rio. SoundJam also produces pretty pictures that move in time to the music. Very cool.

Can't seem to find any settings to change to make it recognize the drive. Media player 7.1 can't burn CDs as far as I'm aware. At least on Win2000 this player isn't showing any burn options. Have you tried Nero or similar software for burning CDs ? iTunes may also help here. HTH Cheers - Neil.
